These days, doing things as a family is extremely hard. Especially with a newborn at home. COVID has really put a strain on what we can and can not do. Obviously, I want to keep my family safe and healthy, but I truly believe we need to live, too. This particular Saturday we decided to enjoy the woods and snow!
This particular Saturday, we decided to go get my boyfriend game camera and enjoy a nice walk in the woods at the same time. My boyfriend surprised me with a new pair of snowshoes for Christmas and I have been DYING to use them. We had no snow on Christmas and since then, we have had few snow flurries. We finally got some snow the day before so I brought them with us so I can give them a try.
Okay, so we probably didn’t have quite enough snow to really use them, but I did anyways. The bindings on these are SO EASY to use and get in and out of. It was so much fun.
The weather was absolutely perfect that day. In the 30’s and an a little sunny. The snow in Vermont in the woods is just so picturesque. A sparkling blanket of white covering all of the greenery. Fresh air really is just so good for the soul, too.
We also got Isla a new sled from Santa. It was super inexpensive and she loves it! This was our first time taking this out, too. I really loved the sled from L.L.Bean but I just couldn’t bring myself to pay that much for a sled she would outgrow so quickly. I am not completely positive we will have more kids and although I am all about passing things down to other family and friends, I just didn’t want to fork out close to $200 for a sled.
For about $15 I found this at our local hardware store and it just the job just fine! I like the little belt that is on it and it does keep her secure. I wrapped her in a blanket as well as her snowsuit and she didn’t slip much, if at all! She sure looked cozy in there.
Being outside is so important and we try to incorporate as much time as we can. Weather permitting of course! It is hard when the temperatures in VT can be so low and I don’t feel super comfortable having her out when it’s really cold.
